This Community School is a model for 21st Century school facilities and partnerships. Located in a state-of-the-art building, the school houses a preschool and an after-school program, a Family Resource Center, a community center, a garden, a kitchen, and a medical, dental and counseling center to serve the needs of the students and community.

The school community including parents, teachers and the Bay Area Women and Children's Center collaborate to bring extra resources and volunteers into the school. Tenderloin Community School provides a strong language arts program to engage the students. Hands-on science and math are key elements of the school program. The school offers English Plus Cantonese and Intensive English classes. Through the SF-MOCD, at least one YSA principal participated as design architect, supervising architect and/or senior designer while associated with the architect-of-record for this project.
